President Dr Irfaan Ali, along with Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony and Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, met with the leadership and staff of the Government Analyst-Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD).
During the engagement, the President reinforced the importance of robust surveillance, monitoring, and testing systems to ensure that all food products available in supermarkets and across the market meet the required standards for quality, safety, labelling, product description and nutritional content.
The GA-FDD is Guyana’s principal regulatory agency responsible for ensuring the safety of food and drugs; it ensures imported and locally manufactured foods meet strict health, quality, and labeling standards.
