Fisherman dies after falling, hitting head while repairing boat at Unity foreshore
– as search continues for missing pregnant woman, fiancé
One day after a couple went missing during an outing at Unity Beach, East Coast Demerara (ECD), tragedy struck once again when a fisherman reportedly died after hitting his head after falling into his boat. Based on reports received, the dead man was identified as ‘Cannon’ of Coconut Walk, Unity Village.
Inews understands that the man was doing some repairs on his boat when he slipped and hit his head. He reportedly died at the scene. An investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the search continues for 20-year-old Lyodisa “Loyda” Waldron, a sales representative, and her fiancé, 33-year-old Andri Francis, a Special Constable, both from Victoria Village, ECD.

It was reported that at about 14: 00 on Sunday, Waldron and Francis were swimming at Unity Beach when Waldron reportedly began drifting deeper into the Atlantic Ocean and called out for assistance.
Hearing her screams, the father of two reportedly went to assist her, during which both of them were pulled under due to the strong current and disappeared. An alarm was raised, and checks were made for the couple, but to no avail.
Up to late Friday, a joint search and rescue mission comprising ranks from the Mahaica Police Station and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guard was established to look for the missing persons, but they were not located.
Two years ago, two friends – 20-year-old Navin Seenauth and 17-year-old Daniel Boodram, both residents of Unity Village, drowned at the same beach where they went for a swim with a group of friends.
