A 24-year-old Venezuelan national of Port Kaituma, Region One (Barima-Waini) was arrested after he was found in possession of 11.2 grams of cannabis.
The discovery was made during a mobile patrol conducted on Thursday (October 8, 2026) at about 11:30h at Hima Top Main Road, Matthews Ridge, North-West District in Region One.
During the patrol, ranks intercepted an ATV with two occupants, a 24-year-old driver of Fitzburg, Port Kaituma and the 24-year-old Venezuelan national of Port Kaituma.
A search was conducted on the occupants, during which ranks found 10 small transparent ziplock bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis in the possession of the Venezuelan national.
The 24-year-old Venezuelan national was arrested and escorted to the Matthews Ridge Police Station, along with the suspected cannabis, which was weighed in his presence and amounted to 11.2 grams before being lodged.
The suspect remains in Police custody as investigations continue.
