The search continues for a murder suspect in Queens after a man was stabbed to death in front of his family. Sulimon Ferrier, 29, was walking home with his father when he was randomly stabbed in the chest and back. His mother, Cynthia Ferrier, also witnessed the attack.
It happened early Saturday morning outside Seduction Lounge and Bar in Jamaica.
Newly obtained video shows Sulimon fighting to survive after a stranger repeatedly stabbed the father of four. Cynthia was right there, trying to get the weapon away from the suspect. “I wasn’t afraid; it’s best, God, he takes me before he takes my child. You know it hurts burying a kid,” she said.
Sulimon and his father, Peter Ferrier, were crossing Jamaica Avenue, walking home from a nearby bar when the suspect approached. “He’s talking, saying he’s not afraid of nobody, he’s going to kill everybody, and so I tell my son, let’s go and let’s leave this guy,” Peter said.
Peter says the stranger came up from behind. He warned his son to look out, but there was no time. The suspect first stabbed Sulimon in the chest and then the back.
“My son was on top of him, and he had the option to put his hand over my son and stab him. I couldn’t save my son,” he said. “I could see the knife in his hand, and I tried to hold the guy’s hand down,” his mother added.
Cynthia then helped Sulimon get into a restaurant. “I tried to compress the bleeding, stop the bleeding, and he was like, ‘Mom, I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe,’” she says.
Sulimon’s younger brother was at work when friends sent him a video from the scene. Then his mom called, telling him his big brother was dead. “I thought he was going to be ok. I even texted him before he passed. I was like, ‘ Give me a call when you get out of surgery; I’m going to come and see you,’” his brother said.
The family is from Guyana. Sulimon was the heart, his family says, and they say he was always checking on everyone.
Though she’s shattered, Cynthia had something to say about the suspect. “Killing somebody out of anger, now you have to face the penalty. I forgive you. I will forgive him,” she said. (Eyewitness News abc7)
