As a security guard was shot dead on Thursday afternoon during a suspected robbery at the Lida Supermarket, Charles and Sussex Streets, Charlestown, Georgetown.
The dead man has been identified as 38-year-old Esaun Orlando Rose, of Laing Avenue, Georgetown. At the time of the incident, Rose was employed by a private security firm and was seconded to the Chinese supermarket.
Grieving relatives at the scene described him as a devoted Muslim who did not get into anyone’s way. His wife stated that she worked two jobs to maintain that family, and her husband joined the security firm to assist her. “Is best he de stay home, and I would do my jobs…” the woman cried uncontrollably.
