EBD youth arrested as probe into AK-47 assault rifles bust intensifies

A fourth person has been arrested as investigations into the recent discovery of the 10 AK-47 rifles in Berbice on Friday, continues.

According to the police, following the arrest of two men who turned themselves into custody in relation to the discovery, investigators conducted a further search on Friday (June 5, 2026) about 17:00hrs at Farm, East Bank Demerara.

During a search at the residence of a 21-year-old wash bay attendant of Farm, New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, one extended magazine, suspected to be for a 9mm firearm, was found in a clothes basket in his bedroom.

The 21-year-old was taken into police custody as investigations continue.

So far, 33-year-old Stephen Rajah, a taxi driver of Back Street, Goed Fortuin Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD), has been charged and remanded to prison for the discovery of the high-powered weapons.

Ryan Singh, the third person from Parika Outfall Seadam, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), is still wanted by the police in connection with the crime.
