Cuban nationals robbed at gunpoint

Two Cuban nationals, ages 41 and 29, were robbed at gunpoint in a vehicle sometime between 19:30h and 20:00h on Friday (September 25, 2026) in the vicinity of Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims, both factory workers, boarded a silver-grey motorcar en route to Wales. WBD. At the time, one of the suspects was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

While in the Stanleytown area, the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded the belongings of the two victims. The victims were relieved of two cellular phones, a wristwatch, a wallet and a total of GY$8,000 in cash.

The victims were subsequently instructed to exit the vehicle, after which the suspects drove away and made good their escape.

CCTV cameras were observed in the area, and the footage will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
