Police are on the hunt for two males who reportedly invaded the property of a 64-year-old farmer from Uitkomst, Canal No.1 Polder, West Bank Demerara (WBD), on Wednesday evening and carted off over $12 million in cash and other items.
Police stated that on the day in question, at about 20:15h, the victim was sitting under a shed on the lower flat of his residence with relatives when two males entered the yard. Both of them were reportedly armed with handguns.
As such, victim and his relatives were ordered to lie on the floor in the kitchen area as the suspects demanded valuables. During the ordeal, the elderly man was assaulted, and out of fear, he led the suspects to a white bucket inside the home, where $12 million was kept.
In addition to the cash, the men took four cellular phones. They later made good their escape in a silver-tinted Toyota Axio motorcar. The matter was reported, and an investigation was launched. No arrests were made.
