Forty-five-year-old Ramkaran Ramnauth, a labourer of Bounty Hall, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was on Thursday slapped with a 24-month jail sentence topped with a $100,000 fine for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Ramnauth pleaded guilty to both charges when he appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. As such, he was sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment on each count and fined $50,000 on each count. The sentences will run concurrently.
