The Office of Professional Responsibility has been once again called to investigate another shooting incident, this time at Block ‘E’ Sophia, Greater Georgetown, which has left a 19-year-old laborer injured.
According to reports, police were on mobile patrol duties when they received information that the teenager, who was wanted in connection with armed robbery, was in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, ranks observed the teenager riding a motorcycle, and as such, they went after him. However, police stated that upon reaching in front of his yard, he reportedly dropped the motorcycle and attempted to escape. In retaliation, one round was discharged by a rank from his service firearm, which struck the 19-year-old in his left-side abdomen.
The injured teen was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention under police guard. His condition is listed as stable. A 9mm spent shell has since been recovered at the scene, while the service firearm was lodged for examination. The matter remains under investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.
