Indar meets GPL on better crisis management, communication during emergencies
Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, held a meeting on Tuesday with executives from the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) and Power Producers and Distributors Inc., along with senior representatives from Wartsila, and the power generation, transmission, and distribution teams, to discuss improved crisis management.
The discussion included a review of ongoing efforts to enhance communication during emergencies and continuous training of personnel.
Director General Alfonso De Armas and GPL’s executive management committee team leader, Kesh Nandlall, participated in the discussion.
The meeting comes on the heels of the widespread power outage on Sunday, that was caused by a heavy-duty machinery making contact with GPL’s transmission line.
The incident occurred as China Railway First Group was conducting road expansion works in at Dennis Street, Georgetown.
The Guyana Police Force had arrested the Site Engineer.
