A 64-year-old businessman from Helena, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was reported injured on Thursday following the discharge of a loaded firearm along the Unity Old Road, ECD. Based on reports received, the victim stopped his motor vehicle on the northern parapet along the Unity Old Road and exited.
At this time, he reportedly observed a white motor vehicle approaching him, and soon after heard a loud explosion and fell to the ground. The victim called for assistance and was subsequently taken to a private medical facility, where he was admitted as a patient.
He reportedly sustained injuries to his abdomen, right elbow, and left arm. His condition is listed as stable. No arrests were made as investigations continue.
