President Dr Irfaan Ali today met with Deputy Director‑General of the European Union (EU) Investment Bank, Mr Martin Seychell, and the Bank’s representative for the Southern and Eastern Caribbean, Ms Maria Rojas Gonzalez, at the Office of the President on Shiv Chandrapaul Drive.
Today’s meeting was aimed at gaining a first‑hand understanding of the trade relationship, bottlenecks and challenges between Guyana and EU countries and their private sectors.
The EU Investment Bank also expressed its commitment to working with the Government in priority areas such as health, education, climate and energy security, human capital development, and the expansion of the orange economy.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd; Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally; EU Ambassador to Guyana, Luca Pierantoni; and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms Sharon Roopchand, were among those present.
