Prince Bagot

Prince Bagot, who had been arrested by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) for allegedly trafficking drugs, was today granted bail.

Bagot appeared before Magistrate Rhondel Weaver at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, where he pleaded not guilty.

Despite CANU’s objections, bail was granted in the sum of $500,000, and the matter has been adjourned to May 25.

This case originated from an operation conducted on Thursday at Lot 108, David Rose Street, Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, where CANU Officers intercepted Bagot at his business premises. A subsequent search of the shop and residence revealed 390 grams of cannabis, 3.5 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), twenty-five (25) 7.65 mm live rounds of ammunition, and $608,450, which is suspected to be proceeds of narcotic sales.

In a press release, CANU contended that Bagot is a confirmed repeat offender and is no stranger to law enforcement, having a history of prior convictions and having previously served time in prison for various offences. Most recently, he was arrested by CANU at the same address on January 22, 2026. In that instance, he was found in possession of 912 grams of cannabis, 11 grams of ecstasy, and a significant quantity of cash.

Although he was placed on $150,000 bail for the January offence, with conditions requiring him to report to CANU monthly, he committed the current offence while that matter was still active before the court.
