Following the discovery of a 12-gauge single-barrel shotgun on Saturday at Lima Backdam, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), seven live matching rounds of ammunition were found one day later as police intensified their investigations.
Police stated that while conducting further inquiries into the matter on Sunday, information led them to a rice field where they found a transparent plastic container containing the 12-gauge cartridges.

It was reported that on Saturday, police were on mobile patrol duty in the area when they heard two loud explosions suspected to be gunshots. As a result, the ranks stopped and observed a male walking out of a rice field with the firearm and two ducks.
He was approached, and upon being questioned, he admitted that he was not a licensed firearm holder. As such, the 45-year-old farmer of Bounty Hall, Essequibo Coast, was arrested pending charges.
