An 18-year-old boy was taken into custody on Wednesday following the discovery of 18 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and one live 12-gauge cartridge during an operation along the Hoff-Van-Aurich Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Police stated that ranks intercepted a motorcar and searched the teenager from Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, who was seated in the front passenger seat with a haversack on his lap. The search unearthed an Ensure bottle in a side pocket of the haversack, which contained the ammunition.
Further searches were conducted on the vehicle and its other occupants, but nothing illegal was found. The teen was taken to the Suddie Police Station along with the ammunition, pending further investigations and charges.
