3 dead following altercation at Aranka Village

Police are investigating a fatal incident which occurred on Saturday September 19, 2026 about 09:30hrs at Aranka Village, Baramita, North West District, resulting in the deaths of Joy John, 40; her husband, Amar Thomas, 38 and Tony Williams, 62, all farmers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that John and Thomas lived together at a camp in the area with their five-year-old son, while Williams resided at another camp approximately 20 miles away.

It is alleged that Williams went to John and Thomas’ camp, where an argument subsequently ensued between him and John, during which Williams allegedly dealt John a chop to her neck with a cutlass.

Thomas, who was reportedly returning from his farm, subsequently confronted Williams, resulting in an altercation during which both men allegedly inflicted injuries on each other with sharp objects.

John was found motionless at the camp, while Thomas was found approximately 50 feet away. Williams was subsequently found approximately 100 feet from the camp along a track.

Police ranks visited the location on Sunday September 20, 2026 and examined the bodies. John was observed with a wound to her neck, Thomas with a stab wound to his left groin area and Williams with a stab wound to the left side of his chest.

The bodies were transported to the Baramita Cottage Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. They were subsequently placed in the hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examinations.

Investigations are ongoing.
