Winston Hazel has been sentenced to prison for three years and fined $8.7 million for cocaine trafficking.
On Thursday last, Hazel was found guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on charges relating to the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, to wit, 5.814 kilograms of cocaine.
This case originated from a March 2022 operation in the Guyhoc Park, Tucville area, where officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) intercepted a motorcar containing two occupants. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed five parcels of cocaine, weighing 5.814 kilograms.
