A 39-year-old miner from Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested on Friday at Parika Foreshore, East Bank Essequibo, with a quantity of cannabis.
Police stated that ranks were on foot patrol duties in the area, and acting on information received, made contact with the suspect who was at a boathouse, during which a search was conducted on him and his belongings.
The search led to the discovery of the ganja inside a bag belonging to him. As such, he was arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station, where the ganja was weighed and amounted to 5 kilograms.
The miner remains in custody pending charges.
