A 39-year-old farmer and his 37-year-old wife, both from Parika, were taken into custody on Friday after the discovery of 102.1 grams of cocaine at a grocery shop in Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBD).
Police stated that, acting on information received, ranks went to the location where they contacted the two individuals. A search was subsequently conducted at the location in the presence of both individuals, during which a quantity of whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine was found in a plastic bag.
Both individuals were arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station, where the suspected substance was weighed and amounted to 102.1 grams. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
