Police in Regional Division #9 are investigating the discovery of 1,742 grams of suspected cannabis, which was found on Wednesday September 30, 2026, during an operation at Lethem, Central Rupununi.
During the operation, ranks, acting on information received, proceeded to a bushy area approximately 150 feet behind a shop, where they found a box and a haversack concealed beneath bushes.
A search of the items revealed several parcels and 147 small zip-lock bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspected cannabis was taken to the Lethem Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 1,742 grams before being lodged.
No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
