Weeks after committing to address concerns raised by residents, Minister of Housing, the Hon. Collin Croal, today returned to the New LBI Housing Development to inspect ongoing road rehabilitation works, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in developing housing schemes.
The follow-up visit comes after the Minister first engaged residents on June 16, when concerns were raised about the poor condition of roads within the community.
During that engagement, Minister Croal assured residents that urgent intervention would be made to improve access throughout the scheme.

Inspecting the works today, the Minister noted that the commitment is already being fulfilled, with approximately $1 billion in infrastructure works now underway across the development.
“We are here at LBI as a follow-up to a commitment we made to residents who had complained about the condition of the roads,” Minister Croal said. “This is one of our major housing developments that will extend all the way to Aubrey Barker Road. On the western portion alone, we committed $1 billion in infrastructure works, and those works have already commenced.”
He explained that 23 contractors are currently engaged in executing the road works, while contracts for the construction of the cross streets are in the final stages of award.
“The cross streets will be constructed in concrete, and works are expected to commence within the next two weeks,” the Minister added.

Minister Croal also highlighted the need to protect the significant investment being made in the area, pointing to the damage caused by the movement of heavily loaded trucks.
“Now that we are constructing these roads, another issue has emerged—the reckless use of the roads by heavy-duty trucks. Once the roads are completed, we will implement measures and restrictions to safeguard the integrity of the infrastructure. We will work with the relevant authorities to ensure these investments are protected for the benefit of all residents,” he stated.
Residents welcomed the Minister’s return to the community and expressed appreciation that works had begun so soon after the initial commitment. Many noted that the improvements have already made a noticeable difference and said they are looking forward to the completion of the project.
