Police in Regional Division # 4 ‘B’ (East Bank Demerara) are investigating the discovery of a suspected firearm which was found today (Thursday, June 11, 2026) during investigations conducted at Prospect Housing Scheme, EBD.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Police received a report that a male had entered a business place and was later observed with what appeared to be a firearm.
Acting on information received, ranks proceeded to Prospect Housing Scheme, where they contacted a 26-year-old male Venezuelan national.
Further investigations led ranks to a construction site in the area, where a search was conducted and one black suspected pistol with an empty magazine was found concealed.
During the exercise, several cellular phones and a Rambo-type knife were also found. The suspected firearm, magazine, cellular phones, and knife were lodged pending further investigation.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
