The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising arrangements for Guyana to host the ICAO/EASA Third Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisation (RSOO) and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organisation (RAIO) Forum for Aviation Safety.
The signing of the MoU signals a significant milestone for Guyana’s aviation sector and reinforces the country’s growing role in shaping international aviation safety standards.
The forum, scheduled for September 29–30, 2026, in Guyana, will bring together key aviation stakeholders and high-level government with responsibility for transport, infrastructure, finance, the economy, and tourism, alongside key aviation industry partners, international organisations and technical experts from across the globe.
Organised in close collaboration with ICAO, the event will serve as a critical platform for advancing regional safety oversight and strengthening accident and incident investigation frameworks worldwide.
The MoU was signed by Lt. Col. (ret’d) Egbert Field A.A., Director General on behalf of the GCAA, and Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Global Aviation Safety Symposium (GISS), currently underway in Marrakech, Morocco — underscoring the international community’s commitment to elevating aviation safety standards worldwide.
