See statement from the Peoples National Congress:
On Thursday, 13th March 2025, a PNCR/APNU team, headed by its Leader Aubrey C. Norton, met with the Private Sector Commission. Discussions were cordial, but thorough and wide ranging.
Among the topics were growing government corruption and Guyana’s flawed electoral system, in particular the current bloated list and the need for mechanisms to prevent voter fraud. The PSC engaged thoroughly in the discussion, asking questions and seeking detailed responses. Similarly, the two sides discussed education, with concerns being expressed on both sides about the education needs of the country and ways GOAL could be improved or reworked.
The PNCR/APNU was also able to elaborate on its people-centred development strategy. The party highlighted several business-friendly policies such as an increase in the tax-free threshold to G$400K/month for all workers in both the private and public sectors, increasing access to micro-finance through a larger allocation to the small business bureau, and establishing a government development and investment bank for larger enterprises, among other measures. The Private Sector Commission expressed its support for tax cuts and any good governance measure, and expressed an interest in continuing to engage with the PNCR/APNU.
