A man is now dead after he was shot to his head during an altercation early this morning (Sunday, April 26, 2026) along North Road in Georgetown.
INews understands that the deceased, who was dressed in white long jeans, a brown jersey and black Adidas sneakers along with a blue one-strap bag, has not been identified.
The incident occurred at around 07:45 hours on North Road between Alexander and Camp Streets, Georgetown.
Based on information reaching this publication, the deceased was standing in front of a bar on North Road when the suspect reportedly started urinating nearby.
The now-dead man allegedly walked up to the suspect and began hitting him to the head. The two men were embroiled in a scuffle when the suspect pulled out a handgun from a bag he was carrying. He pointed the firearm at the deceased and pulled the trigger twice, but no rounds were discharged. He then used the weapon to hit the deceased to his head, causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspect continued to assault the now-dead man with the gun, which went off. The suspect then placed the firearm back into his side bag and walked away.
The deceased was left lying motionless on the roadway.
A police patrol that was passing nearby was alerted and summoned EMTs, who subsequently pronounced the victim dead. The body was examined, and one gunshot wound was seen on the right side of the deceased’s head.
