G Mining Ventures, a Canadian-owned gold mining company, has announced plans to hire up to 2500 workers as construction advances on its Oko West Gold Project in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
The company made the disclosure during a job fair on Saturday at the New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) in Berbice, where it began engaging prospective employees as part of a nationwide recruitment drive ahead of the project’s transition to operations by 2027.
The outreach forms part of the company’s broader national hiring push, with talent acquisition lead, Kobe Cort, explaining that while the event was hosted in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), the initiative is targeting skilled and semi-skilled workers from across the country.
He noted that institutions such as NATI and the Port Mourant Technical Institute (PMTI) continue to produce graduates with competencies aligned to the needs of the mining sector, making the region a strategic starting point for recruitment efforts.

The Oko West Gold Project, located in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), is currently in its construction phase, with the company aiming to complete this stage by the third quarter of 2027 before transitioning into full-scale operations.
As the project advances, the company is seeking to fill a wide range of positions spanning construction, mining, and hospitality. Cort said vacancies currently exist for general labourers, electricians, carpenters, masons, heavy-duty equipment operators, and truck drivers, as well as cooks, kitchen helpers, housekeepers, and camp attendants, among other roles, reflecting the scale and diversity of the operation.
He emphasised that many of the positions are immediately available, noting that once applicants have the required documentation in place, employment could be secured within a matter of weeks. Cort added that there is an urgent need to fill roles, particularly in construction and camp operations, as well as for operators and drivers, as work on the project continues to intensify.
Addressing requirements for applicants, Cort noted that while certification is an asset, it is not always a requirement, particularly for persons with hands-on experience.
He explained that individuals who have worked in fields such as carpentry or masonry, even without formal qualifications, are encouraged to apply, as the company is prepared to provide on-the-job training to help develop and refine their skills.
Persons interested in joining the company can submit applications through its online platforms, including Facebook and LinkedIn, or visit its corporate office located at the Pegasus Corporate Suites in Georgetown.
Cort noted that the company maintains an open-door policy, allowing applicants to enquire about vacancies, submit documents, and receive feedback directly from the recruitment team.
G Mining Ventures is also expected to continue its recruitment outreach on Monday at the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Open Day and Job Fair, another major career event that traditionally attracts hundreds of students and job seekers, along with companies and agencies showcasing employment and training opportunities.
The company’s presence there is expected to further widen access for persons interested in the vacancies linked to the Oko West Gold Project.
Meanwhile, Cort encouraged interested persons across Guyana to take advantage of the opportunities, describing G Mining Ventures as an equal-opportunity employer committed to fair and transparent hiring practices.
According to him, the company places strong emphasis on employee development and growth, positioning itself as a preferred choice for individuals seeking to build long-term careers in the country’s expanding mining sector.
