Fort Wellington Government Service Centre completes over 15,000 transactions in almost three months

The government service centre at Fort Wellington in Region Five has already facilitated more than 15,000 transactions in less than three months, highlighting the growing demand for integrated public services closer to communities.

Speaking during a community consultation on the Model Village Initiative in Bush Lot on Friday, President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali explained the centre has significantly improved access to essential government services by bringing multiple agencies under one roof.

Residents can now apply for electronic identification (e-ID) cards, passports, birth, death, and marriage certificates while accessing services from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and the Immigration Support Services.

“Not even three months yet, we have more than 15,000 transactions,” President Ali revealed.

Building on that success, the president announced plans to further expand the centre by partnering with commercial banks to offer on-site banking services.

He explained that residents will soon be able to open bank accounts in a more welcoming and convenient environment while completing other government transactions.
