Two males were arrested by police in Regional Division #6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) after they were busted with more than 2 kilograms of cannabis.

The discovery was made during a mobile patrol conducted on Saturday October 17, 2026, about 14:00hrs along Crabwood Creek Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.

During the patrol, ranks observed an 18-year-old cane harvester of Grant 1806, Crabwood Creek, placing a brown salt bag into a motor car driven by a 20-year-old Technical Assistant of No. 72 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

Upon observing the Police, the driver reportedly drove away and was subsequently seen throwing the bag from the vehicle onto the shoulder of the roadway.

Police ranks retrieved the bag and subsequently intercepted the motor car.

A search of the bag, conducted in the presence of both males, revealed three bulky parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Both males were arrested and escorted to the Springlands Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 2.399 kilograms before being lodged.

Both suspects remain in Police custody as investigations continue.
