A 59-year-old man from Alness Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) was injured following a shooting incident at Kildonan Village on Thursday.
Police stated that they responded to a report of alleged threatening behaviour at Kildonan Village, and in the process of arresting the 10-day worker, he attacked them with a cutlass. As a result, a round was discharged by the officer from his service firearm, which struck the man in his right knee and left foot.
The injured man was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition. The cutlass was retrieved at the scene as investigations continue.
