Detectives in Regional Division 4’C’ are investigating an alleged murder committed on Jose Aurelio Ramirez, Male of Mixed Ancestry, age 54 years, (Cuban National) of Melanie East Coast Demerara by person or persons unknown; which occurred at Melanie Market Street at about 02:40 hrs on Sunday April 13, 2025.
Inquires disclosed that on the aforementioned date and time an Anti- Crime Patrol was in the vicinity of the Melanie Market Area, East Coast Demerara when they observed the Ambulance from Melanie Fire Station on the southern side of Market Road and Emergency medical technicians attending to the Ramirez and a Female of Mixed Ancestry, (Cuban National) also of Melanie East Coast Demerara.
The Ramirez body was examined and bore what is suspected to be several stab wounds. (one slash to left wrist, wounds to left chest, on right bicep, to right rib, and on the chin)
The female was also examined (no injuries found) interviewed and is assisting with investigations.
He (Ramirez) was pronounced dead at the scene, and the body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
A suspect is in custody. Investigations are ongoing.
