President Dr Irfaan Ali has made it clear that he is a leader who will “jab his way to the knockouts” when confronted with challenges.
“We don’t hide from challenges, we face challenges, we confront challenges, because we are here to fix things. So, this is not the president who gonna duck and run. This is a president who will jab his way to the knockouts,” the Head of State declared.
He was at the time addressing a group of residents during a public outreach at Goed Fortuin Housing Scheme, Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) on Monday afternoon.
President Ali admitted that the government is aware of the issue residents face in relation to access to treated water.
“We have understood this problem, but there is an issue, the well that supply all of these communities is aging and all of us when we age, we slow down…So, what are we doing about this? We launched a new project, we have a contactor in place and we are now in the process of drilling a new ultra deep well to increase the production so that by year-end, this problem would be fixed for your community and other communities,” he outlined.
During the outreach, the president also committed to ensuring a mini-excavator is permanently situated in the Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) to maintain drainage and irrigation within the communities.
