Police ranks, led by a Gazetted Officer, conducted a drug eradication exercise at Ebini, Upper Berbice River, during which they destroyed approximately $41,060,440 in cannabis.
The exercise was carried out sometime between 09:00h and 18:00h on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

During the exercise, a cannabis cultivation measuring approximately one acre was located, on which approximately seven hundred (700) suspected cannabis plants were discovered. The plants ranged between four and seven feet in height.
Ranks also discovered a makeshift camp measuring approximately 20 feet by 20 feet, where approximately 100 pounds of dried cannabis was found.
The suspected cannabis plants, dried cannabis and makeshift camp were destroyed by fire.
No arrests were made. Investigations continue.
