Some 145 young people on Monday graduated from the Guyana Police Force’s Zara Computer Centre New Amsterdam Campus. The graduates, ranging from six to 16 years old, successfully completed computer training tailored to their respective age groups. Their training included basic computer skills, Microsoft Paint and Paint 3D, Microsoft Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.

The ceremony celebrated not only academic achievement but also the confidence and technological skills gained by the students throughout the programme. Coordinator of Zara Computer Centres, Assistant Superintendent E. Hinds, encouraged the graduates to remain committed to learning and thanked parents for their continued support.

Founder of Zara Computer Centres and the Jay & Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation, Dr. Jay Sobhraj, urged the students to use technology responsibly and make full use of the opportunities available to them. He also highlighted the introduction of PC repair classes, which will provide students with additional practical skills.

Head of the Education Department, Jacobs, delivered the feature address and commended Zara Computer Centres for its remarkable growth from one center to 20 centers across Guyana. He encouraged the students to use technology wisely, particularly when engaging on social media.

Outstanding students from the three age groups were recognised with trophies for their achievements.

The graduation represents another important milestone in the Guyana Police Force’s commitment to empowering young people through education, technology and community development, helping to prepare them for an increasingly digital future. (GPF)
