
A motorcyclist was killed earlier today in a collision along the Reliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
The dead man has been identified as Satesh Persaud, also known as “Tony” of Reliance, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
According to information received, Persaud was exiting a street and attempting to enter onto the Reliance Public Road when he allegedly failed to stop before proceeding onto the roadway.
At the time, a motorcar was travelling north along the western carriageway at what was reported to be a fast rate of speed. The motorcar subsequently collided with the motorcycle.
The impact hurled Persaud several metres from the point of collision, leaving him with severe head injuries as well as multiple injuries about his body.
He was transported to the Lima Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The driver of the motorcar was taken into police custody as investigators launched a probe into the fatal accident.
