Elderly woman robbed at gunpoint on way home

A 60-year-old pensioner from Congress Drive, South Ruimveldt was on Wednesday evening held at gunpoint by two men and relieved of her personal belongings. Police stated that the elderly woman was on her way home, and as she made her way through an alleyway, she was confronted by two males on a pedal cycle. One of them was reportedly armed with a handgun.

The woman was held at gun point by one of the bandits while the other took away her shoulder bag containing a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone, a National Identification Card and a bank card. The two men then escaped. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
