A 23-year-old chainsaw operator of Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has been sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to using threatening language against his mother.
Maranno Fedricks of Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Charity Magistrate’s Court last week.
Fedricks was charged with the offence of threatening language, contrary to Section 141(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02.
The charge stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 4 at Onderneeming Sand Pit, during which Fedricks threatened to kill his mother, 45-year-old Yonette Christian, a pathway worker.
When the charge was read to him, Fedricks pleaded guilty.
Taking into account the seriousness of the threat made against the victim, Magistrate Mohabir sentenced Fedricks to three months’ imprisonment.
