Twenty-five-year-old Kumar Persaud, a labourer from Annandale New Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was on Tuesday charged and remanded to prison on armed robbery and damage to property charges.
Persaud was arrested on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, for allegedly robbing a 30-year-old man from Mon Repos, ECD, which occurred on May 27, 2026.
He appeared before Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where both charges were read to him. He pleaded not guilty to the offense of armed robbery and guilty with explanation to the offense of malicious damage to property.
Bail was refused on both matters, and he was remanded to prison until July 20, 2026.
