Two firearms and matching ammunition were found during separate police intelligence operations in Region Six and Region Three on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
In the first instance, a 36-year-old man from Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD), was arrested following the discovery of a 12-gauge shotgun, along with one cartridge, on his person.

Police stated that, acting on information, ranks went to the area where they contacted the suspect and initiated a search of his person, during which the firearm and ammunition were found in the waistband of his pants.He was arrested and escorted to Leonora Police Station, where he remains pending charges.
In the second incident, police traveled to No. 77 Housing Scheme, Corriverton, Berbice, where they discovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine and six live 9mm rounds of ammunition on Tuesday.

Police stated that ranks, acting on information received, went to a street leading to the backlands at No. 77 Housing Scheme, where they observed a group of men gathered at the end of the street. However, upon seeing the police, the men reportedly ran into nearby bushes and escaped. Despite ranks giving chase, no arrests were made.
Nevertheless, a search conducted in the area led to the discovery of a black side bag containing the firearm and ammunition.
