A 33-year-old Police Sergeant who was critically injured in Sunday’s accident along the Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara, has succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll from the crash to two.
Dead is Darrel Wilson of Helena No. 2, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara. His death was confirmed by relatives, who said he passed away on Monday, one day after the accident.
Wilson had been hospitalised following the early morning collision, which also claimed the life of 27-year-old labourer Keshon Arthur of Hand-en-Veldt, Mahaica.
Wilson was on his way to work when the accident occurred.

According to police, the accident occurred at about 05:45hrs on Sunday when Arthur, who was reportedly attempting to overtake several vehicles, ended up on the southern driving lane and collided with the vehicle driven by Wilson, who was proceeding west.
Arthur was pronounced dead on arrival at the Enmore Regional Hospital, while Wilson had been admitted with a broken leg and multiple injuries.
Wilson was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he died during surgery on Monday.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
