As part of the Joint Services ongoing routine leadership engagements across border locations and bases, Joint Task Force Commander, Captain (Coast Guard) Vernon Burnett recently conducted engagements with ranks deployed in the North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini).
During the visit, Captain (CG) Burnett assessed preparations and readiness of security forces stationed in the district, consistent with established command oversight responsibilities. He received briefings from commanders in the Mabaruma and Matarkai sub-districts, focusing on operational posture, coordination, and the maintenance of professional and welfare standards among the ranks.

In keeping with the Joint Services’ approach to community engagement, the Task Force Commander also interacted with residents, providing reassurance on the measures in place to support safety, security, and stability within the district. These engagements formed part of routine outreach aimed at maintaining confidence and cooperation between the Joint Services and the communities they serve.
The visit reflects the Joint services continued emphasis on calm, disciplined leadership presence, consistent readiness, and responsible security management across all areas of deployment, as they remain focused on fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities in support of national peace and security.
