The lifeless body of 46-year-old Márcio Rocha, a Brazilian national and miner, was found on Monday at Seemang Backdam, Middle Mazaruni, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the deceased, who reportedly suffered from a medical condition, was last seen alive at about 06: 00 on the said date at a mining camp in the area.
However, a few hours later, his body was discovered lying in a hammock at the camp. The matter was reported, and an investigation was launched.
Upon inspection of the body, there were no signs of violence. The body was escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem. Investigations are ongoing.
