Woman shot dead by estranged boyfriend who then attempted suicide

A woman was this evening shot dead by her estranged boyfriend, who then attempted suicide.

Dead is Marisa Beete. The perpetrator is Ghalee Khan. The duo had been in a two-year relationship but were currently not on speaking-terms.

The incident occurred at the woman’s home in Region Three.

Reports are that after killing the woman, Khan attempted to take his own life.

They were both taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead.

Khan, who was convicted of drug trafficking in the US, has since been transferred to the Georgetown Hospital.
