Nineteen-year-old Kobie Isiah Benjamin, a welder from Annandale New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD), for whom a wanted bulletin was issued in connection with an alleged attempted murder and armed robbery incident, was apprehended on Friday.
Police stated that acting on information received, ranks visited a residence at Annandale, ECD, where the suspect was found hiding in the ceiling of the premises. As such, he was arrested.
Benjamin is wanted for questioning in relation to an incident which occurred on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Triumph, ECD, during which Shaheen Amanat, also called “Ryan,” was shot in the head.
Benjamin was taken into police custody and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
