Kevon Hatton, also known as “Smokey,” a miner of Vigilance, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was granted $20,000 bail for selling spirituous liquor without a licence and self-bail on other related charges.
Hatton was arrested on February 25, 2026, following an event at Church Road, Buxton, ECD, which was highlighted in a social media post on February 23, 2026.
He was charged with selling spirituous liquor without a licence; licensing of premises for public entertainment; use of unlicensed premises for public entertainment; and making loud and continuous noise.
The accused appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where the charges were read to him. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The matter was adjourned to March 16, 2026, for disclosure and to March 22, 2026, for trial.
