A three-member team from the Caribbean’s Regional Security System (RSS) is currently in Guyana to support local investigations into the recent shooting of two men in Linden, Region 10.
On Monday, a plain-clothes police officer allegedly shot and killed 21-year-old Ronaldo Peters in Linden. This led to widespread protest action in the mining town during which another man, 32-year-old Keon Fogenay, was allegedly shot dead by police.

President Dr Irfaan Ali had subsequently met with the grieving families, committing to not only cover the funeral expenses but also assuring that there will be an independent investigation into the two killings.
The cops involved in the fatal shooting have been placed under close arrest as the Guyana Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) conducts an investigation with support from the Regional Security System (RSS).
According to the Police Force in a statement today, officers from the OPR and the team of RSS investigators visited the mining town of Linden to continue investigations into the fatal shooting of Ronaldo Peters and Keon Fogenay.
Upon arrival in the mining town earlier today, the team met and engaged with family members of both men and subsequently revisited the scene where the men were shot.
“Investigations into the circumstances that led to their deaths are ongoing,” the GPF said.
