President Dr Irfaan Ali on Sunday announced that Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) could soon get its own municipal airport, similar to the Eugene F. Correia International Airport at Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
“We have received a private sector interest in the building out of a municipal airport just like the one in Ogle, right here, in Region Three,” the Head of State revealed as he spoke about the developments taking place in the region during the commissioning of the Guyana-China Friendship Park.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation issued a Request for Proposals for the design, construction, and financing of two new municipal airports in Regions Six and Nine.
