Ranks of a police patrol have recovered a loaded firearm that was dropped by a suspect who was being pursued in the wee hours of today in Georgetown.
At about 03:10hrs today (Saturday), a Police team acted on information received and proceeded to Harpy Drive, North-East La Penitence, Georgetown, in the vicinity of Freeman Street. On arrival at the location, an identifiable male known to the Police as Jamal Halley, aka Biggs, who is wanted for ‘discharging a loaded firearm with intent’ on March 14, 2025, at Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, was observed standing amongst several other individuals.
Two of the ranks immediately exited the police vehicle and approached the suspect, who started to run east from the roadway onto a dam leading to the North East La Penitence squatting area.
A chase ensued, during which the ranks observed Halley throwing an object onto the dam and continuing to run. He managed to jump several zinc fences, making good his escape.
A search was carried out on the dam, where a .45 Glock Pistol was found. Police took possession of the firearm and further searches were conducted in the area for Jamal Halley but same proved futile.
The suspected Firearm was then taken to the East La Penitence Police Station, where it was dusted for fingerprints. The magazine was ejected from the firearm and it was observed that it contained ten (10) .45 rounds of ammunition.
