Passenger dies after speeding car crashes along Rockstone Trail

Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Wednesday March 11, 2026 about 10:11hrs on Rockstone Trail, Linden, involving Motor Car PAD 1602 driven by a 25-year-old male of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara and occupant Steve George, 54, a foreman of Sophia, Greater Georgetown (deceased).

Initial enquiries revealed that the motor car was proceeding north along the western side of Rockstone Trail at an alleged fast rate of speed when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently ended up on the northern side of the trail, turned turtle several times before coming to a halt at the centre of the roadway facing west.

As a result of the incident, the occupant received injuries about his body. He was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

The body of the deceased is presently lying at the Linden Hospital Complex awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the motor car is presently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Investigations are ongoing.
