The Mayor and City Council of Georgetown, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, the King’s Foundation, and other key stakeholders, on Wednesday conducted a site visit to assess and review the proposed movement networks mapped out for the City of Georgetown.
The inspection forms part of ongoing efforts to advance strategic urban planning initiatives aimed at improving mobility, accessibility, and overall city functionality.
The proposed movement networks are designed to enhance traffic flow, strengthen pedestrian and cyclist connectivity, and promote a more sustainable and inclusive transportation system across Georgetown.
During the exercise, representatives engaged in on-the-ground assessments of key corridors, intersections, and public spaces identified within the proposed plans.
The team examined existing infrastructure, traffic patterns, and community layouts to better understand current challenges and opportunities for improvement.
Officials emphasised the importance of collaborative planning in shaping a modern and resilient capital city. The involvement of the King’s Foundation and other stakeholders reflects a shared commitment to integrating international best practices with local knowledge and community needs.
The site visit marks another step forward in the broader vision to transform Georgetown into a more organised, accessible, and people-centered city.
Further consultations and technical reviews are expected as the proposed movement networks continue to be refined and developed for implementation.
